Bye-election polling teams to leave today

ITANAGAR | Dec 18 | The preparations for bye-election to Paake-Kessang and Likabali assembly seats scheduled on December 21 next under the supervision of chief electoral officer Kaling Tayeng are over.

The polling teams along with police personnel would be dispatched tomorrow, deputy chief electoral officer D J Bhattacharjee told this daily today.

While Election Commission of India has already deputed general and expenditure observers to both seats, two companies of CRPF personnel are already deployed to maintain law and order and facilitate smooth conduct of free and fair election on the D-day.

In all six candidates are in the fray, including   Modam Dini (INC), Kardo Nyicyor (BJP) Gumke Riba (PPA) and Sengo Taipodia (independent) in a four-corner contest from Likabali seat while Kameng Dolo (INC) and Biyuram Waghe (BJP) are in a straight contest from Pakke-Kessang seat. The counting will take place on December 24 next.
